Lafayette Interact “DREAMS” Project Information
Phase II: Clean Up efforts Dates: April 5th May 3rd April 12th May 10th April 19th May 17th April 26th We can have as many as 100 workers per Saturday and they will need to bring any of the following items they have available for use: Rakes ( garden as well as yard rakes) Gloves (heavy duty or work gloves) Wheelbarrow (to move debris from sight to a pile to be picked up) This is labor intensive work Removal of debris from yards and field so that construction and plant growth can begin is our first priority Many may be assigned to farms so that spring hay fields are ready for use. We will also be moving to clean both hollows and streams as the weather permits. You MUST wear thick soled shoes as there is a possibility of nails and sharp objects everywhere. Sack lunches are going to be provided for the workers so we need a list or number of participants for each day. Lafayette Interact “DREAMS” project Goals Priorities and Disbursements
1. School involvement and donations a. Donate money received from each school back to the Elementary schools for their use b. Donate $100.00 to each student, faculty or staff member affected by the tornado at MCHS. c. Donate $50.00 to each student, faculty or staff member affected by the tornado at MCJHS ---through Youthact club from this fund d. Distribute donated items to children in school system
2. Coordinate clean up details for at least 50 homes or lot sized areas by District 6780 Interact clubs with Rotary and Youth Act help.
3. Coordinate with District 6780 to procure the supplies and labor for construction of a “Habitat for Humanity” TYPE house to be built by Interactors Rotarians and Youthact members from within our district.
